Joe Symes and the Loving Kind have just released a new single. “You’re No Friends Of Mine” is a mellow ballad that is driven by the lyrics; it’s a modern song that could just as easily fit in with classics from the Beatles’ era. The piano-based track is introspective and evocative. “You’re No Friends Of Mine”  was recorded At LIPA, produced by Alex Gidman, and mastered at Peter Gabriel’s Solid State Logic Studios in April 2017.

The single follows Joe Symes and the Loving Kind’s most recent release “Acoustic Variations”. You can see my review of that EP HERE.

The band play the renowned Cavern Club in Liverpool tonight. Free Entry.

Joe Symes and the Loving Kind will open up the main stage of the Liverpool Rock & Roll Marathon this coming bank holiday Sunday, at 11.15am – Kings Dock, alongside headliners REPUBLICA. They will also play at CONCERT IN THE SQUARE at 4.15pm.

Joe Symes & The Loving Kind are made up of Joe Symes lead vocalist and guitarist, Andy strums bass and Colin hits the drums.

Every release from Joe Symes & The Loving Kind creates a fantastic feel and their latest release definately does that

With Joe’s vocals roaring through carries the track and you hear the story sang within the lyrics.

Last week I was lucky enough to listen to Joe Symes And The Loving Kind’s, new limited edition single “You’re No Friends Of Mine.” This track is a little gem, not only is the music arrangement spot on the whole track is done beautifully, which let’s face it we wouldn’t expect anything less from the boy’s everything they do impeccable!

To quote Micheal Kelso from That 70’s Show, “BURNS” are scattered throughout the lyrics and add that extra punch to this one of a kind and limited track. Joe and the boys have again outdone themselves on this track, Joe’s vocals are on point as is the percussion and guitar work.

This track is a truly an outstanding offering from Joe Symes and the Loving Kind. These guys are nothing but interesting, he had the honor to play at the after-party for Noel Gallagher‘s tour. He didn’t only play for Noel once, but twice. “I think that was our favorite gig, and the fact that we were asked to do it twice was a big compliment” said drummer Colin White during my interview with him and Joe last week. 

Before finding his mark with this band, Joe and Colin tried their luck with a previous bands that did not turn out to be as successful. “You gotta go through other bands to get to where you want to be” states Colin, which seems to be a common theme for artists that I’ve met that play in all kinds of genres. “We are making an album in Peter Gabriel’s studio” says Joe, and come on how many bands get to do that?
Their tour they say are going well, the show they played before the interview was at a sold-out theater. They have opened for the Christians, and the fans cheered them on for an encore. They’re going to stay local with the rest of tour, and they will be playing their first outdoor gig soon. When asked to compare themselves to other bands, they both simply said “you can’t”.
They said that they have all different type of music like rock, pop, a little country, and a mix of alternative in all of their songs. Colin says “there are songs that sound like rock, and others that sound like dixieland music”.
It was a great pleasure to have the chance to talk to these musicians, and hopefully I will meet them backstage someday in Boston!
