Uncategorized

Joe Symes and the Loving Kind are a diverse group of musicians from Liverpool, England, and we’ve recently had the privilege of getting an exclusive look at their new EP, “Acoustic Variations.”

This album features some favorite Joe Symes and the Loving Kind songs their fans know and love so well, including “I’m Gonna Find Out Someday” and “No Turning Back.” The acoustic variations of these songs hark back to an early Beatles vibe, their vocals pure and crisp, and the soul of the album is one of bliss and hardship.

No one can write heartbreak with a smile like this UK group, and will surely receive other rave reviews as well as a thumbs-up from us!

Joe Symes & the Loving Kind have continued their blunt force metamorphosis with a sudden right turn into other genres with their latest EP “Acoustic Variations”. If you haven’t checked out our review for this future classic, then I would recommend listening to this exclusive interview first to get behind the minds of the madness. This is definitely a band on the move and that movement is onward and upward. Take note if you are thinking of starting a band or wanting to get your music heard. This is how it is done.

“Acoustic Variations” is out now! Check out the links below for ordering information.

About Joe Symes & The Loving Kind:
Since the release of their debut album in 2013, the band has embarked on a non-stop journey all over the UK, performing in cities and towns from London to Glasgow. Taking their self-titled debut on an assault around the country has seen them pick up some major support slots including The Blockheads, Dodgy, XTC, Bloc Party and Alt-J, as well as hitting the Festival circuit, and coming to the attention of Creation Management’s Alan McGee. The album has also been greatly received in America and had magazine and airplay all over the world.

With the release of their new single, Things Get Better, the band showcase how they have evolved, formed from more increasingly energetic live performances, with a heavier sound, but still keeping their distinctive feel found on the first album. Things Get Better has already begun to attract attention at home and abroad, being featured on BBC Introducing, being played at Anfield (Liverpool FC) on match days, as well as already having some International airplay.

EP Review: Acoustic Variations – Joe Symes and the Loving Kind

Reblogged from Soundwaves Review: Featuring all the best music floating on the airwaves!

Joe Symes and the Loving Kind released their self-titled debut album in 2013. It’s a wonderfully eclectic mix of songs.

Track listing:

  1. I’m Gonna Find Out Some Day
  2. Fine Line
  3. You’re Not Coming Back Tomorrow
  4. No Turning Back

You might recognise a couple of those song titles if you are familiar with the band’s music. As the title suggests, this new EP contains acoustic versions of the songs.

EP Review:

Joe Symes has one of those voices that was just made for singing; it’s smooth and has a distinctive tone. His vocals effortlessly enhance the songs. The first track, “I’m Gonna Find Out Some Day”, was originally featured as a b-side to the single “Things Get Better”. This new acoustic version is a rhythmic and upbeat tune that will get your toes tapping. The second song, “Fine Line”, appeared on the band’s debut album. The acoustic version is a great stripped-back variation. Like the first song, it has an upbeat tempo and engages the listener with its thought-provoking lyrics. The excellent “You’re Not Coming Back Tomorrow”, is the slowest song on the EP: the lyrics are melancholic, and the way the song ends quite abruptly with the words, ‘you’re not coming back tomorrow’, gives it quite a dramatic and poignant feel. “No Turning Back”, is a nice ending to the EP; quite an introspective song that has a steady rhythm, and lyrics that tell a story. Throughout the EP the band have used many interesting percussion instruments, adding an extra depth to the acoustic versions. It’s an accomplished collection of songs from this talented band. “Acoustic Variations” has a chilled-out sound and is perfect for relaxing to. Look out for it when it goes on sale on the 20th of January. You can listen to a sampler of the EP on their website.

Jammerzine – The Test Drive: Joe Symes and the Loving Kind – Acoustic Variations

Uncategorized

Joe Symes and the Loving Kind go for a total switch of the gears with their latest outing, an EP titled “Acoustic Variations”.  If you’re lucky enough to know their previous eponymous album, then you will know how much of a departure “Acoustic Variations” is.

This EP is also a total 180° departure from the last album in many ways. It is considerably more subdued in it’s delivery. The album “Joe Symes and the Loving Kind” was a lot more rigid in it’s delivery where as “Acoustic Variations” is more subdued while the band is more comfortable in their surroundings. Some of the songs, such as “Fine Line” almost have a vintage quality to them while “I’m Gonna Find Out Some Day” gives the hooks of a modern classic of a band with experience.

What we have here are four solid tunes stripped to the bone and given a fresh body of shear creativity to inhabit. Let that be a lesson to any band or artist who wants to “make it” in the music business.

REVIEW: JOE SYMES AND THE LOVING KIND RELEASE NEW ACOUSTIC VARIATIONS EP!

With FOUR tracks and being released on the 20th January 2017 through Truly Independant Records, the Liverpudlian band are ready to show they can mix things up a great way!

Looking at the track listing you may be familiar with but more chilled so to say yet stil having the JSATLK feel you always love!

Track 1 ‘ ‘I’m Gonna Find Out One Day’ the smooth vocals fro Joe just grabs your attention and with distinctive instrumental it pieces the song together magically.

Track 2 ‘Fine Line’ a more upbeat and bouncy track to get you moving to the beat which this definitely does.

Lyrics that just bounce of each word and very easily remembered to sing a long too.

Track 3 ‘ Your Not Coming Back Tomorrow’

Again a unique instrumental that makes you look forward to where the track will go then once the vocals come in slow but you are just mesmerized by the song. Sounding very personally but sang beautifully.

‘No Turning Back’ a very story telling song that you just feel it’s so laid back and chilled giving the ending of a EP a magnificent ending!

Make sure you download it on the 20th Jan from
